Measure the thickness of your trim before making your trim piece cuts.

Place the cut 4 x 4's in the corner of your constructed frame.

Nail the frame to the 4 x 4's using a nail gun and finishing nails

Turn table right side up with the frame at the top.

Place 18 x 18 inch tile on top.

Place an 18 x 18 inch tile on top.

1.  Cut the 4 x 4 into 4 pieces of the same length.  For this project we cut the length to 16 inches.  This will create a low profile table for a more modern look.

2.  Cut you wood trim into 4 pieces.  Cut 2 of the pieces 12 inches long.  Measure the thickness of the trim you are using, for this project our trim is ¾ inch thick.  You will need to add ¾ inch x 2 = 1 ½ inch add this to the 12 inches and make you last to wood trim cuts at 13 ½ inches long.  This will allow you to create a frame with the wood trim.

3.  Use the nail gun and finishing nails to fasten the four corners of the wood trim frame.

4.  Place a 4 x 4 cut to 16 inches in each of the four corners, and use the nail gun to attach the wood trim frame to the 4 x 4's.

5.  Turn the table right side up and place a piece of 18 x 18 inch tile on top.

(Optional step)

6.  You can also add a frame around the tile for a more finished look.  To do this you will need to cut a piece of plywood into an 18 x 18 inch square.  Then, cut 2 pieces of wood trim to 18 inches long and 2 piece to 19 ½ inches long.  Lay the plywood square on the ground and nail the trim around it creating another frame.  Place the plywood with attached frame centered on top of the table base and use the nail gun to attach.  Place the tile within the frame.
