Glue fabric squares to the back of each piece of marble. | Place a piece of marble in each of the 4 corners of the table. | Place the top centered on 4 columns. | |
1. Decide on the width and length of your table. For this project our table is 40x55 inches (this is a very large coffee table). Have your piece of glass and piece of MDF both cut to 40x55 inches. The piece of glass will lay on top of the MDF board.
2. Paint the top of the MDF board, and the bottom of the piece of glass, black, using a roller. (You may need 2 coats). Allow both to dry. Once dry, place the glass, painted side down, on top of the MDF board.
3. Cut 2 pieces of the 1"x2" Trim to 40 inches long and 2 pieces cut to 57 inches long. These pieces will create a frame around the MDF board, covered with the piece of glass.
4. Use the nail gun to attach the trim around the MDF board. Keep the bottom of the trim pieces level with the bottom of the MDF board. This will create a 1 inch lip around the top of the MDF board.
5. Cut another 2 pieces of the 1"x2" Trim to 40 inches long and 2 pieces to 53 inches long. These pieces will lay flat inside of the 1 inch lip created by the previous step. This will create a frame that lays on top of the glass, set inside the frame surrounding the MDF board.
6. Use the nail gun to attach the inside frame.
7. Use a paint brush to paint all the trim black. Allow to dry. (You can opt to do this before you attach both the inner and outer frames)
8. Wrap the Poly Rope around the edges of the table in a triangle design. Use the staple gun to fasten the rope on the sides of the table. Start the rope at the widest part of your triangle and work your way back to the point of the corner. Do this to all four corners.
9. Paint the Poly Rope black using a paint brush and allow to dry.
10. Cut 4 squares of fabric each 12"x12". Use the hot glue gun to glue the fabric to the bottom of the pieces of marble. This will allow the marble to move around on the glass top without scratching it. Place a piece of marble in each of the four corners.
11. Set four Ceramic Columns in a square formation and place table top center on them.
